Breaking news: Fabrizio Romano claims Chelsea boss Tuchel has been interested in versatile winger since January as he is spotted in London ahead of medicals and to team mates .
There has been no agreement between
Chelsea and soon-to-be out-of-contract
Inter Milan star Ivan Perisic despite
reports in Italy, according
to Fabrizio Romano.
Earlier, Italian outlet Sportmediaset
claims that Chelsea have reached
an agreement with the 33-year-old
over a free transfer move in the summer.
Perisic reportedly prefers a move to
Stamford Bridge due to Chelsea’s
offering a better contract (a two-year
deal worth €6million-a-year) than
Inter (a two-year deal worth €4.5m-a-year).
However, Romano said that Perisic
has yet to reach an agreement with
any club at the moment.
Chelsea, according to the Italian transfer
expert, are indeed interested. Thomas
Tuchel, in particular, has reportedly kept
an eye on the versatile winger since
January.
However, the west London club is reportedly
still waiting to negotiate an offer —
which makes sense given the club’s not
being able to offer contracts or sign
new players under the current licence.
Chelsea’s reported interest in Perisic,
who has mostly played as a left wing
-back at Inter this season, is certainly
interesting.
The club rarely signs veteran players
under Roman Abramovich’s ownership
, with Thiago Silva being the only recent
example of this type of signing.
Silva’s success at the club may have influenced
the shift in transfer policy.
Tuchel may need more left wing-back
options next season with Marcos Alonso
being linked with a move to Barcelona.
Emerson Palmieri is expected to return
from his loan spell at Lyon, but it remains
unclear whether he will be part Tuchel’s
squad next season.
