Breaking news: How Chelsea could line up next season with 4 exits, loan returns and transfer restrictions

 Following the introduction of UK 

government sanctions against owner

 Roman Abramovich, Chelsea's 

future is uncertain. 



The Russian had previously confirmed

 plans to sell the club, and a sale 

could still be allowed if certain criteria

 are met, but the club's heavily restricted

 and temporary license - which allows

 them to fulfill footballing obligations

 - means that the future of a number

 of squad members remains uncertain. 


If the club is unable to provide 

contract extensions, as many as ten

 Chelsea players could be released 

at the end of the current season. 


Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen

, and Antonio Rudiger are among 

the defensive trio out of contract 

at the conclusion of the current season

, while loanee Saul Niguez is expected

 to return.
