 with his boyhood club Villarreal 

when they qualified for the 

Champions League. 



It turned out to be a great choice, 

as Unai Emery led the Yellow Submarine

 to the semi-finals, where they were 

defeated by Liverpool. 


Manchester United and Manchester City

 have now entered the race, with Spurs

 still interested in signing the Spaniard. 


The Red Devils are reportedly willing 

to spend up to £43 million for Torres

, with Ten Hag anxious to sign 

the 25-year-old. 


Tottenham had scouted the centre-back

 during Villarreal's Champions League 

semi-final loss to Liverpool. 


Torres' contract has a £50 million release

 clause, which Manchester United is 

alleged to have triggered.

 According to journalist Fabrizio  Romano, Manchester United transfer  target Darwin Nunez will '100%'  leave Benfica this summer.  Nunez has decided to leave the  Portuguese club, according to Romano's  Here We Go podcast.  Nunez scored 34 goals in all competitions  for Benfica, including the goal that  eliminated Erik ten Hag's Ajax  from the Champions League.  United scouted Nunez, according  to A Bola, and The Athletic claims  the Red Devils are among the  front runners to sign him.  Darwin Nunez will 'completely ' depart.  "He had a tremendous season,"  Romano said. He made a choice.  He is 100% certain to depart Benfica  this summer.  "I've heard a lot of rumors about  him, but I'm told he's fine."
