 fines against owner Roman Abramovich, 

Chelsea's future is uncertain. 



The Russian had previously stated that 

he intended to sell the club, and a sale could

 still be permitted if certain criteria are 

met, but the club's heavily restricted and

 temporary license - which allows them 

to fulfill footballing obligations - means

 that the future of a number of squad 

members remains uncertain. 


If the club is unable to provide contract

 extensions, as many as ten Chelsea players

 could be released at the end of the current

 season. 


Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen

, and Antonio Rudiger are among the 

defensive trio who are out of contract 

at the conclusion of the current season,

 while loanee Saul Niguez is expected to return.
