The defender has had a horrible season

, which he entered after playing a 

key role in England's march to their 

first major final in nearly 60 years 

and narrowly missing out on his first

 piece of silverware as United captain

. He finishes it having been removed

 out of the firing line in the midst 

of a poor run of form, with fans 

demanding that he hand over the

 captain's armband. 


When Erik ten Hag arrives at Old

 Trafford, the question of who will 

lead United next season will be a 

major decision.
